The Brawl in the Bakken 2025
The 2nd annual Brawl in the Bakken will be held once again at the Maysa arena in Minot ND. This 3 vs 3 hockey tournament in to promote competitive game play for mite - bantam aged hockey players, in a no pressure setting. We want players to compete hard and get a solid day of on ice skating, while also being able to try new things on the ice, with FUN being the most important part of the tournament!
Ages
This tournament is for players that participated in Mites - Bantams (10u-14u for girls) last year. The youngest birth year is 2019 while the oldest is 2007.
When/Where
Mites and Squirts will play on Saturday May 31st.
Peewees and Bantams/HS will play on Sunday June 1st.
The tournament will be held at the Maysa Arena in Minot ND
Cost
$175
Instructors
Each team will have an on-ice coach, those coaches will also act as referees for their teams' games.
Games
Each team is guaranteed 5 games. Each game will be 30 minutes long.
Jerseys/ Equipment
Players and goalies will be provided team jerseys from JPH.
JPH however does not provide other equipment needed to participate in the tournament (Ex. skates, sticks, goalie gear.)
Rules
A full list of rules will be sent out to all participants leading up to the event. Some of the new rules will include: 1 min shifts with horn changes to ensure fair ice time, the team that scores will have to go back and touch their net before they can resume action and more!
We hope implementing some of these new rules will help promote a fairer/ competitive process for all athletes involved
Skills Competition
The skills competition will be for both players and goalies and is open to anyone to participate in. There will be a fastest skater portion and a shootout portion. With prizes for the winners of both competitions.

What age group should my athlete be in?
To determine what age group your athlete should fall under, please use your past year's level. If they were a squirt during the 2024/2025 season and will be moving up to peewee the following year, you would choose the squirt age range.
Is this a boy only tournament?
NO, we allow both boys and girls to participate in all of our events!
